Rubber-Core Sinker

Fishing Dictionary->Rubber-Core Sinker

Rubber core sinkers feature an outer body crafted from an alloy, taking on an oval or football shape. Within this exterior, a rubber core is housed, complete with two twisting tabs situated at each end of the sinker. The sinker’s body is designed with a split groove, enabling the fishing line to pass through seamlessly.

To secure the rubber core sinker to the line, one can twist the rubber tabs, effectively fastening it in place. While these sinkers can be placed anywhere along the line, a popular attachment point is just above the swivel. The process involves inserting the line into the grooved weight and then twisting the two rubber tabs in opposing directions. This action wraps the line around the rubber core, firmly anchoring the sinker to the line. For removal, a simple twist in the opposite direction releases the sinker.

Notably, rubber core sinkers offer a quick and easy means to attach, remove, or reposition a sinker on the fishing line. Their design is gentle on fishing lines, in contrast to weights like split-shot, which may pose the risk of nicking and potentially causing line breakage.
